Rai has been selected to be a trainer in environmental laws. The other student, Nisarg Desai, has been selected to assist the Indian member of the International Law Commission (ILC) for the 62nd session of the commission between July 5 and August 6.
“After clearing number of selection process, including telephonic interviews and our academic scores in the university, I was finally told that I was selected. It was a great feeling, but it got bigger when in their further communication they shared that I was the third Indian ever to get a chance at UNITR,” said Rai.
Rai added, “I will start with training Indian diplomats on environmental laws. Within few weeks, once I have studied environmental laws of other countries too, I will graduate in training other diplomats also. This was a dream come true for me and for my family.”
Desai said, “The ILC has members from 34 countries, India being one of them. I will be assisting this member with research and preparatory work for the meeting. I have also been given a chance to attend the plenary sessions of the 62nd session of the commission. I will get a feel of various areas as I will research on whatever topic the commission takes up.”
